MOMMYING 2 GIRLS

Writer's picture: keirrakellykeirrakelly

One word: BUSY

These two really know how to keep me on my toes! Lucky I'm a good multitask-er so it almost feels natural to me to be accompanying both needs. For example, right now as I'm writing this article my foot is bouncing the bouncer to keep McKenzie asleep and mac n cheese is on the stove cooking for Camille who should be waking up from nap time any moment now.

Leaving the house with just Camille seemed hard because she'd take some kind of clothing off of course right before we needed to go, now with 2, I have to time it just right and make sure diapers changed, and McKenzie is fed because I breastfeed, before leaving the house and Camille has all her clothes and shoes on I don't even care if they're on the wrong feet anymore or her outfit doesn't match. In my head I get everything going pretty early but of course something happens last second where I don't leave at the time I planned to, but I still somehow make it on time.

Getting both in a photo? Rare. A lot of people ask me where the other one is when they're both not in a photo, McKenzie doesn't move so she's easy. Camille on the other hand, doesn't stop moving and is such an active toddler she's always doing her own thing and can't stay still for one second.

I got extremely lucky that Camille is such a loving and awesome big sister. She's seriously such a good helper! She loves to help feed the baby when she's being bottle fed, gives her a blanket when she's cold, lays down with her during belly time, and says "She's so cute I love baby Kenzie too much" just about every morning. When I do diaper changes she'll even find me a diaper and or wipes if they're not around. I know some kids can get very jealous, but I lucked out and have such a sweet girl. Having them almost exactly 3 years apart has been such a great age gap so far, knowing how Camille was at 2, that wouldn't been a whole different ball game and a lot harder.

I cannot wait to see them grow up together and see them hopefully continue to get along! Raising 2 Gemini girls is basically like having 4 kids but I wouldn't change it for the world. Camille has been so patient with McKenzie too, when I'm busy changing a diaper and she needs something I'll be sure to say "after I change baby's diaper then I'll make you a pb&j" and she'll sit patiently (sometimes with a little whining if it's after nap time) She's starting to learn patience slowly but surely, and learn things like how to care for a baby which I watch her repeat with her baby dolls.
