MCKENZIE'S STORY

2 weeks before birth, click on photo to see photographer!

Pregnancy with McKenzie was super easy (I'm sorry to those who struggle!) I only struggled a lot with weight gain, weighing only 108lbs the day I gave birth regular weight is 91lbs. So I drank lots of protein shakes and frequent meals. I had the same issue with Camille and both were healthy girls!

Night before birth

Last photo I got with my belly

Mitch & I had a fun little BBQ with a couple friends & I had noticed some extra liquid coming out of me (sorry TMI) but I didn't think anything of it & went about our night ending with roasting marshmallows around the fire. I was cramping a little bit but thought it was my normal ligament pain, but my mom was texting me saying my water broke (she was right.)

With Camille, I was induced at 38 weeks so I had no idea what to expect having a baby all natural and didn't know that your water breaking could also happen slowly (which it did to me) and not just a large gush. I wake up at around 7AM the next day and noticed some serious cramping happening, and a light pink tint liquid so I immediately called my mom who said to go to the hospital, I'm stubborn and didn't listen, called my doctor instead who said it was my water that had broke last night and I was in labor! Mitch wasn't taking me seriously and I wasn't ready to believe it was happening either, but the pains were close and getting intense and knew I needed to take a shower before spending the night in a hospital. We then got Camille and I called Bri, my nanny and friend, to meet me at the hospital parking garage to get Camille because it was GO time!

As Mitch is rushing us to the hospital I literally felt like she was going to come out and the bumps he had to go over were not helping. He started playing a song we listed to a lot together, Sister Golden Hair by America which one of the lines says "Well I keep on thinkin bout you, sister golden hair surprise." Keep this in mind.

McKenzie weighed 5lbs 14oz and was born at 10:07AM

We make it to the hospital and they take me to triage and say they're waiting on the doctor or they can go ahead and check my cervix. My contractions are so strong at this point and I can feel her so I'm like PLEASE check this is not a false alarm. Sure enough I'm 7cm dilated so they rush us upstairs it's baby time! I got my epidural and was pain free, soon enough it was pushing time which lasted for 30 min and then a sister golden hair surprise was born! Picking her name was something we kept going back and forth on so to play it fair I suggested if she comes out with brown hair we'll choose my name Korinne Rosemae. If she was born with blonde or red hair (we knew could be a possibility as Mitch's dad has red hair) then we'll choose his name McKenzie Korinne. We got our little golden haired surprise McKenzie Korinne Traeger. Mitch chose McKenzie from the McKenzie HWY we would both commute to see each other every weekend since he was working and lived over in Bend and I'm in Eugene. Korinne was for my best friend Korinne Frier who passed away earlier this year on January 3rd from a major stroke. She has such a special and meaningful name to both of us and we are so in love with her!
